Overview

Porcelain is the premium end of the diffusion spectrum — and it is worth understanding exactly why. Four distinct diffusion processes are sold as 'frosted' or 'white' on the market, and they are not equal. Frosted (acid-etched): the inner glass surface is acid-etched into an uneven texture. Virtually no lumen loss, no CCT shift, but diffusion is weak — the filament is still partially visible and direct glare persists. Opal-white (internal powder spray): thick white powder sprayed inside and baked. Lumen loss 10–20%, CCT drops ~200K, noticeably softer — but the outer glass surface stays smooth and shiny. Sand frosted (external sandblast): grey matte exterior texture, lumen loss 80–90%, CCT drop ~200K, strong diffusion. Porcelain (external matte-white spray): the process used by premium lighting brands. Lumen loss 80–90%, CCT drop 100–200K — but diffusion quality is the highest available: fully scattered, uniform face, zero visible filament. You can look directly at a porcelain bulb at full brightness without discomfort. HongYu's ETL + FCC listed porcelain range applies this process across nine shapes in E26 and E12 base.

Why Buyers Choose This Series

⭐ Porcelain ≠ frosted — the diffusion hierarchy most buyers never learn

Most buyers conflate 'frosted' and 'porcelain' because they both look white. The performance difference is large. The ranking from weakest to best diffusion is: Frosted (acid-etch) → Opal-white (internal powder) → Sand frosted (external sandblast) → Porcelain (external matte-white spray). Porcelain delivers complete scatter: 0% visible filament, 0% glare, uniform luminance across the entire glass surface. When a US hotel brand specifies 'no visible hotspot in the lampshade,' standard frosted bulbs fail that spec — porcelain passes it. HongYu's porcelain range is ETL-listed, meaning every production run can be audited by Intertek — not a one-batch certificate tied to a different factory.

FAQ

What is the difference between porcelain and frosted?

Four distinct finishes exist, ranked weakest to best diffusion: Frosted (acid-etch) → Opal-white (internal powder) → Sand frosted (external sandblast) → Porcelain (external matte-white spray). Porcelain provides complete scatter and zero visible filament.

Why is lumen output lower in porcelain bulbs?

The dense matte-white coating scatters 80–90% of light — that is exactly what creates full, uniform diffusion. It is an intentional trade-off for maximum visual softness.

What shapes are available?

A15, A19, B10, G14, G16, G25, G30, G40, and S21.

MOQ?

500 pcs per item. Mixed shape orders from 300 pcs per model.
