Every bulb in HongYu's large decorative range is made from borosilicate glass, hand-blown by skilled glassworkers. Borosilicate (high-boron-silicate) glass has a lower thermal expansion coefficient than soda-lime glass — it is more resistant to thermal shock from cycling heat, more dimensionally consistent, and clearer. Hand-blowing means each piece is individually formed, which is why these shapes can reach 250mm in diameter with the complex curves of the BT teardrop, AL almond, and R regency profiles — dimensions that automated glass-pressing machinery cannot produce.
